What is BEfresh?
BEfresh is a natural, non-toxic solution designed to extend the freshness of fruits and vegetables. It works by absorbing ethylene gas, a natural plant hormone that accelerates ripening, thereby slowing down spoilage and reducing waste.
What is ethylene gas and why does it matter?
Ethylene is a naturally occurring gas released by many fruits and vegetables as they ripen. While it’s harmless to humans, excess ethylene can cause fresh produce to over-ripen and spoil more quickly. By removing ethylene from the storage environment, BEfresh helps keep produce fresh longer.
Do I need to open the BEfresh sachets?
No, do not open the sachets. Each BEfresh packet is designed to work sealed. The breathable Tyvek material allows it to absorb ethylene gas while keeping the contents safely contained.
How do I know if the BEfresh packets have been used up?
Each BEfresh packet is effective for up to 90 days, depending on how much produce you're storing. Because the packet doesn’t visibly change, it’s easy to forget when it’s time to replace it. But don’t worry, if you provide your email during purchase or sign up on our website, we’ll send you friendly reminder emails when it’s time to change your packets. That way, you’ll never have to guess!
What should I do with used packets? Are they recyclable?
Once the packet has reached the end of its life (around 90 days), you can simply discard it in regular household trash. The contents are non-toxic and environmentally safe, but the packet itself is not currently recyclable.
What if I or my child, pet, or partner accidentally ate a BEfresh packet?
BEfresh packets are non-toxic and food-safe, but they are not meant to be consumed. If accidentally ingested, the materials are generally not harmful in small amounts, but we strongly recommend seeking medical or veterinary attention as a precaution. Keep sachets out of reach of young children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion.
Can BEfresh be used inside or outside the refrigerator?
Yes! BEfresh works effectively both inside and outside the refrigerator. Place it wherever you store fresh produce fruit bowls, crisper drawers, pantry shelves, or storage containers.
